One of the most beautiful Baroque fountains of Naples, Monte Oliveto Fountain was built at the behest of Don Pedro de Aragon in 1669. Created by artists as a drawing by a pupil of Cosimo Fanzago, takes the name from the church of the monks Olivetani, even if you suspect that the viceroy would name it after Charles II of Habsburg, which is the bronze statue atop the monument, which portrays the youth. We are in the period in which the "fountain" becomes a gift to the city, a liberal gift, which, however, must also show the power and magnificence of royal authority. The white marble monument has a large pool base, above alternate with those of powerful figures of lions and eagles on all stands the triangular pedestal painstakingly worked on which stands the bronze statue of Charles II young.
