Santa Chiara

The basilica and monastery of Santa Chiara (also known as the Monastery of Saint Clare) were built between 1310 and 1340, on a Roman bath complex of the first century AD, the wishes of Robert d'Anjou and Queen Sancha of Majorca, near the western city wall, in Naples. It is the largest basilica Gothic city.
Originally built in the Gothic style of Provence, between the seventeenth and eighteenth century was largely rebuilt in Baroque style by Domenico Antonio Vaccaro.
During World War II Allied bombing of August 4, 1943 caused a fire that lasted nearly two days and almost completely destroyed the church.
